Farm Porta Potty Rules in Kentucky: What OSHA 1928.110 Requires
Tobacco, hay and produce farms around Madison County hire seasonal crews. Here is the federal field sanitation rule in plain words.

How many toilets does a farm need?
OSHA 29 CFR 1928.110 requires 1 toilet and 1 handwashing facility for every 20 field workers, or fraction of 20. The rule applies when 11 or more employees do hand labor in the field on any day. A crew of 25 needs 2 toilets and 2 handwashing facilities.

How close do the units need to be?
Field toilets and handwashing facilities must be within a quarter-mile walk of each worker, or at the closest point vehicle access allows. Move units as the crew moves across the farm. Trailer-mounted units make that easy on big tobacco and vegetable farms.
What service does a farm unit need?
A farm porta potty with a full crew needs weekly service at minimum, and twice-weekly service in July and August heat. Hand wash stations need fresh water at every visit. Light-use barn units can ask about every-other-week service. Moving units across the farm can be timed with service day.
